- Using the Internet for Job Placement;
an Employers' Perspective
Haven't figured out what to do with your
sweetheart on Valentine's Day? Bring him
or her to the Rocky Mountain Internet Users'
Group meeting! ;-)
Our February 14th meeting will feature
a panel of three experts who will discuss
the Employers' Perspective in using the
Internet for Job Placement.
RMIUG is happy to have the following people
volunteer to be on our panel:
- Gary Resnikoff (ncs@jobline.com)
- Gary is a principal at National Career
Search, a recruiting firm that uses the
Internet extensively.
- Randy Holt (rholt@ingr.com)
- Randy is the Manager of the Internal
Support Staff at Intergraph here in Boulder
and several remote sites.
- Troy Bettinger (tcb@evolving.com)
- Troy is an HR Recruiting Specialist
at Evolving Systems; a rapidly growing
software firm in Denver.
Each of our panelists will present for
10-15 minutes about how they and their company
uses the Internet in the hiring process.
After that, we will have a group Q&A which
should be lively discussion given the different
functional areas each panelist represents.
In addition, Will Clurman will discuss
RMIUG T-shirts and Alek has threatened to
de-brief us on the RMIUG ski trip! ;-) As
always, people with announcements of general
interest are also encouraged to speak up.
The meeting is Tuesday, February 14th
(Valentine's day! ;-) from 7:00-9:00 pm,
with optional 6:30 pm start for informal
networking and refreshments. The meeting
will be held at NCAR (National Center for
Atmospheric Research) in Boulder, which
is located on the west end of Table Mesa
Drive, up the hill, right under the Flatirons.
Park in the NCAR lot, go in the main door,
and ask the guard to point you to meeting,
which is held in the auditorium. There is
close-in parking available at NCAR for the
physically challenged. For detailed information
about NCAR accessibility, please call NCAR
at 429-3340 and talk to Facilities. There
is no cost for the meeting.
BTW, we had an overflow crowd last time,
and we have not yet come up with a good
"last-minute" solution to how to handle
> 150 people. So we'll probably be handing
out numbers again and seats in the room
will be first come, first serve. Note that
we have only had an overflow crowd once
in the last year ...
We will have Internet books that can be
checked out of our virtual library. Thanks
to RMIUG members Joe Betts and Bo (the Bohemian)
for organizing the RMIUG library. Please
return any books you borrowed last time.
Consultants and companies are invited
to bring Internet-related product information,
brochures, and business cards which will
be displayed on an information table.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, March
14th and we haven't quite nailed down a
speaker yet, but we're working on some possibilities.
Check out the minutes from this meeting
to see who'll be coming.
RMIUG wishes to thank Internet One for
providing refreshments and XOR Network Engineering
for electronic "stuff."
There is an email mailing list set up
for this group. General information can
be obtained by sending an Email to rmiug@rmiug.org
which will generate an auto-reply that tells
you about the group and how to subscribe.
