- Everything You Always Wanted To Know About
ISDN...But Were Afraid To Ask
ISP's interested in presenting at the
Nov 12th ISP-Fest pls see below
The Tuesday, September 10 meeting of the
Rocky Mountain Internet Users Group (RMIUG)
will feature a panel discussion on a new
type of high-speed digital Internet access,
called ISDN (Integrated Services Digital
Network). The presentation is called "Everything
You Always Wanted To Know About ISDN...But
Were Afraid To Ask." Our first speaker is
Alicia Chalmers (achalme@uswest.com)
who is ISDN Product Manager with !nterprise
(US West). She will give an overview of
the technology and explain how it works.
Secondly, Darryl Watson, President, and
Stephen B. Patterson (spat@abwam.com),
Marketing Manager with ABWAM Internet Access,
will discuss the Internet Service Provider's
perspective.
Finally, Michael Rabb (mrabb@indra.com),
an RMIUG member who is participating in
an ISDN consumer trial, will explain the
user's viewpoint. The RMIUG Committee extends
special thanks to Mr. Rabb for his assistance
in organizing this meeting.
The meeting is Tuesday, September 10,
from 7:00 - 9:00 pm (with optional 6:30
pm start for informal networking and refreshments).
The meeting will be held at the Department
of Commerce (NIST) Building at 325 Broadway
in Boulder, one traffic light South of Baseline.
This facility holds 510 people. Park in
the Dept. of Commerce lot, go in the main
door (faces East), and find the main auditorium
just to the right of the main entrance.
The meeting is free and open to the public,
but we will be passing the hat to defray
the room rental charge we incur.
RMIUG appreciates the ongoing support
from XOR Network Engineering for administration
of RMIUG's electronic discussion lists &
WWW site and Internet One of Boulder for
sponsoring refreshments.
Consultants and companies are invited
to bring Internet-related product information,
brochures, and business cards which will
be displayed on an information table.
There is an email mailing list set up
for this group. General information can
be obtained by sending an Email to rmiug@rmiug.org
which will generate an auto-reply message
that tells you about the lists and how to
subscribe. You can also reach the RMIUG
"Executive" Committee at rmiug-comm@rmiug.org.
Our WWW site is at http://www.rmiug.org/

"Local Web Content" -- City-centered Web

you (ie, Denver)
(To suggest a topic, send your idea to rmiug-comm@rmiug.org)
ISP's: RMIUG will hold another "ISP-fest"
on Tuesday, November 12th. We plan to have
a similar meeting as last year - pls see:
http://www.rmiug.org/rmiug/minutes/95_09_12.html
The biggest challenge we face for this
meeting is lining up the panel members ...
especially with the explosion of ISP's;
you can fully appreciate that it would be
impossible to have every ISP in Colorado
presenting ... and there are other commercial
venues for this.
We don't advertise or envision this meeting
as one where all ISP's are there ... but
rather an opportunity for RMIUG members
to get a taste of what is out there.
So ... if you are interested in attending,
pls Email "alek@rmiug.org" We hope
to settle on our panel by our September
10th meeting. Although not required, it
would be nice if each ISP would contribute
$50 to defray costs of the room rental and
copy costs (we will have handouts with "Tom's
ISP List" attached).
As always, we appreciate suggestions/comments
for this meeting. |
