| 01/12/99 RMIUG Meeting
- Measuring and Monitoring Web Sites
The Tuesday, Jan 12th meeting of
the Rocky Mountain Internet Users Group
(RMIUG) will feature a panel discussion
on measuring and monitoring web sites.
- John Meier (john@freshtech.com)
is Chief Technical Officer & Founder of
Freshwater Software. John will be talking
about the most common things that go wrong
with web sites, and the technology Freshwater
has developed for Web monitoring and administration
that helps Webmasters achieve maximum uptime
for web servers. As Freshwater Software's
CTO, John is responsible for guiding the
company's technology vision and product
engineering efforts.
- Steve Hultquist (ssh@servicemetrics.com)
is VP of Network Services at ServiceMetrics.
Steve will be talking on the impact of design
decisions on Web site performance. These
design decisions are made for Internet networks,
hosting site networks, site application
architectures, and information architectures.
He will also discuss the technology developed
by Service Metrics for monitoring Web site
performance from an end-user perspective.
The service allows owners to take clear
actions and understand the variables that
affect performance. These variables can
include architecture (hardware), partners
(ISP's, backbone providers, hosting companies,
etc.) and content (ads, objects, scripting,
etc.). Steve is responsible for the Professional
Services line of business and the Service
Metrics network infrastructure (and he's
a long time RMIUG member!).
